Prey (for PC) Review - Review 2022
Let's get this out of the way: The $59.99 Prey can easily pass an unofficial System Daze game. On the surface, Prey looks very much like the brainchild of industry veterans Ken Levine or Warren Spector. While the opinions of the latest Arrangement Shock spiritual installments (BioShock ii, BioShock Infinite) remain divisive, Bethesda'southward take does the "Shock family" and first-person shooter genre justice by incorporating interesting ideas, despite not existence the virtually innovative PC game on the market.
A Stupor to the System
In Prey, you play as Morgan Yu, an employee of the Trans Star corporation that operates an orbital space station called Talos One. The Typhon are clever and powerful. You'll need wits, as much as brute force, to best them. Prey's graphics and visual artful are top notch. Much like its immediate spiritual predecessor, BioShock, Prey boasts a prevalent art deco theme, only paired with near-future science that resembles engineering from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Casualty is a very technically demanding game; I tested it on the Razer Blade Pro ($2,499.77 at Amazon) , and while the gaming laptop maintained a relatively steady lx frames per 2d with maxed out settings, at that place were instances where the frame rate dropped significantly during larger encounters. Curiously, the frame rate dropped drastically during ane particular section for no credible reason. The Razer Blade Pro well exceeded Bethesda's recommended specs, with its 3.4GHz CPU equivalent and 4GB GPU. This is an issue that Bethesda is aware of and is working to amend.
Prey'south sound design and music convey a sense of perpetual unease, but only in the best way. Spanning an impressive range from synth-heavy beats to eerie sci-fi ambient, Prey's music pairs itself with exceptional audio pattern and delivers a truly outstanding sound experience.
No Gods or Kings
Casualty isn't a peculiarly innovative game, but everything works very well together and at that place are enough new wrinkles to go along the formula from feeling exceptionally tired. Prey is a game that knows what information technology'due south near and does it very well, even though information technology may be something we've seen before.
